Vincent Men’s Shed assisted the Western Australian Fibre and Textile Association in preparation for their “Altered States” competition display in the Perth Town Hall. The Shed cut threaded steel rods and MDF sheets to size for the display tables. Another interesting job.

All the fun at the Fair
The Shed manned a marquee at the Hyde Park Festival. Our aim was to make ourselves known to encourage new membership. As a bonus we received about $350 through sale of goods made by shed members. Adam Price and Adam Schofield look relaxed. Roy Haagman presented Mark McGowan with a pen made by Barry Adamson – for signing or cancelling big contracts!!
Communication workshop
Vincent Men’s Shed welcomed Owen Catto from the Regional Men’s Health Initiative. There was some pretty alarming statistics presented regarding men’s health outcomes compared with women’s health outcomes which made us sit up and take notice. However the main topic was “Communications” and Owen described, in a good humoured manner the differences between the way the male and female brains and communicating styles operate, illustrated by some amusing videos and slides. It kept everyone interested and sometimes squirming in their seats as they recognized their own behaviors being described. A great presentation and Owen joined us for a sausage sizzle afterwards.
